Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them

We all know about the upcoming film but have you read the book yet? (I recommend doing this before seeing the film as they will probably leave so bits out unfortunately). This book written by J.K.Rowling (or Newt Scamander) is 1 of the 3 extra books to the Harry Potter world, in aid of the charity Comic Relief (just another reason to by the book).

The book is a required text book when you enter Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry so if you have been enrolled then it is probably a good idea to take this with you (as long as you don't mind Harry's and Ron's doodles and games and , occasionally, Hermione's scolding them for vandalising a book and not paying attention). This book lists all the magical beasts, a description of them, and a danger rating, so ever wondered where a Quintapod lives? Ever wondered what a Puffskein eats? Or even why it best not to leave milk out for a Knarl? Well now all the confused muggles can finally know with Newt Scamanders Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (now available in Flourish and Blott's bookstore, Diagon Alley, London and most muggle bookstores).

Harry Potter & the Order of the Phoenix

Voldemort has returned... (Spoiler alert!) At the end of the last book he murdered Cedric Diggory and had a battle with Harry, which ended with Harry narrowly escaping. Thanks to Rita Skeeter no one is will believe that Voldemort has returned and everyone thinks that Harry and Dumbledore are completely insane. But something has changed in the wizarding world during the holidays, even more people are starting to believe that Voldemort hasn't returned, so when the unavoidable happens it will catch them entirely unawares... and on top of all that the Ministry of Magic is starting to interfere at Hogwarts only teaching the students the spell theories not practicing them, and one Ministry teacher is aiming for Dumbledore's spot. Will they ever get a peaceful year at Hogwarts? Probably not...

Join Harry as he has to prove the world that Voldemort has returned, train his fellow students up to be able to defend themselves and have to stand a teacher that he hates worse that Snape (Probably). Enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix has won several awards, including being named an American Library Association Best Book for Young Adults in 2003.

Harry Potter & the Goblet of Fire

After helping his godfather narrowly escape having his soul sucked out and fighting of about 100 Dementors at once, not to mention all the adventures he had the previous years Harry really is ready for a break. But he definitely isn't getting one this year as the legendary Triwizard  Tournament is about to take place however, it is specifically for over age wizards, although you can guess already what is about to happen. Join Harry and his friends as the wizarding world see's a terrifying enemy return and the mystery of how Harry survived as well as how Voldemort lost his power on that night 14 years's ago. The story continues to unravel while the books start to get a lot deeper and lot, lot darker...

If you are going to read this be warned that the series is no longer for the faint of hearted, but if you are a Harry Potter fan no-matter what, carry on, but you have been warned...

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire won several awards, including the 2001 Hugo Award for Best Novel as well as the 2002 Indian Paintbrush Book Award, the third after Philosopher's Stone and Prisoner of Azkaban, and obviously a few others too.

As I have previously stated the books are now starting to become for older people and are no longer for children, as there are impostors, betrayals and even murders at every turn. Be warned some of the much loved characters (old and new) are now starting to mysteriously die of...

You have been warned...

Doesn't mean the books are bad,
you should still read them!

Harry Potter & the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K.Rowling

So... 3rd year inbound and already Harry Potter has already fought off a basilisk, and Voldemort... twice. But will the adventure stop there? Not a chance! This year an evil mass murderer and loyal follower of Voldemort has escaped from the high security wizard prison and is out to get Harry and bring back the feared Dark Lord, but before we even get to that first Harry has to survive the Dursleys... The conceited and obnoxious Aunt Marge has come to stay for a week and she's bad-mouthing Harry's parents and he can't help it, he just sort of blew her up (as in inflating her, not the BOOM blowing her up), and funnily enough the Dursleys don't seem to like that.

Join Harry in the third installment of the Harry Potter series as Harry and his friends get involved with things they probably shouldn't (Will they ever learn there lessons? Probably not) and discover some very dark secrets indeed...

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban won several awards, including the 1999 Booklist Editors' Choice Award, the 1999 Bram Stoker Award for Best Work for Young Readers, the 1999 FCGB Children's Book Award, the 1999 Whitbread Book of the Year for children's books.(and thats just a few of them!)

Harry Potter & the Chamber of Secrets by J.K.Rowling

Harry's year was pretty eventful last year. Learning that he was a wizard and fighting Voldemort, but the excitement doesn’t stop there… This summer Harry is locked in his room as his aunt, uncle and cousin are terrified that he will turn them into frogs, but the usual excitement of tormenting Dudley (the cousin) has worn off. Harry’s friends haven’t written to him all summer, and he is starting to think that they weren’t actually his friends at all when a house-elf called Dobby invades Harry’s bedroom. Dobby admits that he has been stopping all his friends letter’s coming through, and he then terrorizes the special guests which leads to Harry receiving a warning from the Ministry of Magic, and gets a punishment of being locked in his room. He can't escape by himself and he is being starved by his own family. Luckily, Harry’s friends help to save him with a flying Ford Angela… Yep. You can tell it’s not going to be a peaceful year at Hogwarts already… Join Harry in this 2nd novel as he continues to explore Hogwarts, learn new more powerful magic, play Quidditch and fight of the new terror that threatens Hogwarts… Enjoy!

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets has won several of awards. The American Library Association listed the novel among its 2000 Notable Children's Books, as well as its Best Books for Young Adults and lots more.

Harry Potter & The Philosophers Stone by J.K.Rowling

Just before I start I would like to say that although I haven’t reviewed this book (well, not in depth anyway), I absolutely love this series, I have read all the books, seen the films, including the extras, and I just generally love everything about it. Enjoy!

Strange things happen around Harry Potter. Whenever he is upset or angry, the person that had made him always ends up worse off. He hasn’t exactly had a normal start to life, because when he was only 1 his parents died in a car crash. He  was sent to live with his nosy, thin, long necked aunt, pig of a cousin and horrible fat uncle, who regularly threatens to lock him in the cupboard under the stairs (which he lives in) with no meals for a week.  Harry’s life has been terrible up until his 11th birthday, when a ginormous man smashes the front door down, gives his cousin a pig’s tail and gave him a mysterious letter telling him of a strange school… Join Harry as he learns magic, fights a troll and fights a possessed man… Because thats something that happens every day... This is a masterpiece of work and no wonder it has won so many awards. J.K. Rowling is a truly inspiring writer, and do you know what? When Rowling finished writing this book, her agent told her that the book would probably amount to nothing because it was too long and complex for boys to read (how wrong he was!) and the publisher was nearly right because the book was turned down several times before finally being accepted, but still being told the public wouldn't like it! It just goes to show that you should never give up hope, because if Rowling had, we probably wouldn't have the this amazing series that we have all grown to know and love.

Restart

Hello and welcome back to the boy reader. I’m really sorry that I haven’t written in such a long time, but I have had so much to do. Starting secondary school and all other hobbies means I haven't written one for ages, but I have decided to start again. I have decided to at least try and do one every week, no promises but I will try, and with any luck we’ll get it back up to its former popularity, so from now on remember to check back regularly! Thanks for reading! Bye!!!
